2017 SMS/800 Platform Classroom
Training Brochure and Schedule
To help new and current Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) certify to access the SMS/800 Platform, Somos provides the following training classes throughout the year.
Web Based Access (WBA)
5-Day Class




Overview:

The SMS/800 Platform 5-day WBA class provides users of the 800 Service Management (SMS/800) Platform with the skills and knowledge required to use the SMS/800 Platform. The classroom instruction is reinforced by hands on exercises using the WBA. The Web Based Reporting System (WRS) will also be covered.

Course Outline:
  1. Introduction to the SMS/800 Platform
  2. System Overview, Capabilities and Features
  3. General Procedures: Logon, Menus, Screens
  4. Number Search/Reservation and Building Customer Records (including Templates)
  5. Service Maintenance: Diagnostic and Other Informational Features
  6. Reports from the WRS
Prerequisites:

Attendees should be familiar with the concepts and terminology of telephone networks and Toll-Free services.

Complex Record Building (CPR) &
Web Based Reporting System (WRS)
2-Day Class



Overview:

The SMS/800 Platform 2-Day Complex Record Building (CPR) class supplements the SMS/800 Platform WBA class with greatly expanded scenarios for building complex Customer Records. The classroom instruction is reinforced by hands on exercises using the Web Based Access (WBA). The Web Based Reporting System (WRS) will also be covered.

Course Outline:
  1. Introduction and Overview
  2. Call Processing Records
    1. Options for defining Area of Service (AOS)
    2. Multiple carrier routing using day, date, or time as a criteria
    3. Switch and percent allocation
    4. Main and sub sections on CPR
  3. Least Cost Routing and Preferred Techniques
  4. Reports from the WRS
Prerequisites:

Attendees should have completed the SMS/800 Platform WBA class or have at least one year's experience with SMS/800 Platform.

Refresher &
Web Based Reporting System (WRS)
2-Day Class



Overview:

The SMS/800 Platform 2-Day Refresher class presents an overview of the various tools, screens and techniques in the Platform. Classroom instruction is reinforced by hands on exercises using the Web Based Access (WBA). The Web Based Reporting System (WRS) will also be covered.

Course Outline:
  1. Introduction and Overview
  2. New Feature Releases
  3. Number Administration: Number Search Using Various Criteria
  4. Customer Records: Review of Customer Records Including CAD, CPR and LAD
  5. Reports from the WRS
Prerequisites:

Attendees should have completed the SMS/800 Platform WBA class or have at least one year's experience with SMS/800 Platform.

Web Based Access (WBA)
Suitcase Class


Overview:


The Suitcase Class is customized and conducted on the company's site. The fees include 4 paid registrations and the instructors expenses for traveling. The minimum number of students is 4 persons at the companies site to conduct training.





Prerequisites:


Attendees should be familiar with the terminology of telephone networks, the WBA or the older 3270 application.

Registration Policy

To register for an SMS/800 Platform class please call or text the Help Desk at 844.HEY.SOMOS (844.439.7666), Option 1. SMS/800 Platform classes are confirmed 4 weeks prior to the start date. Once confirmed we notify all students who have registered for the class and invoice their company. The registered company then becomes responsible for the students SMS/800 Platform fee. If a student cannot attend the class, the company can schedule someone else to attend in their place, or the company can receive credit towards attending a future class. Credit is good for one year after class date.

(The Help Desk will commit to conducting each class, provided there is sufficient enrollment.)

Training Documentation

The Help Desk is responsible for updating and distributing the SMS/800 Platform training documentation. When attending a class all training documents are included in the class fee. Student guides can be purchased from the Help Desk for self study. The SMS/800 Platform User Guides can be downloaded from within the portal of the Somos Website (somos.com).

Pricing

The fee for all SMS/800 training classes is $350.00 per student per day. The Help Desk must receive payment in full 1 week before the start of class.
